The École municipale des beaux-arts/ galerie Édouard Manet is a public institution. Founded in 1968, it’s one of the oldest contemporary art centers in Île-de-France. Its specific feature is that it is both an art center and a school, which offers workshops for all audiences while also hosting a class for students preparing admission tests for college of arts.

The gallery gives visibility to French and international emerging or established contemporary artists. It supports them in developing their practice as well as in producing artworks and publishing publications. As an inclusive art center, the galerie Édouard Manet encourages the meeting of its different audiences, the locals, students and arts professionals from around the world. Accordingly, the art center gives carte blanche to curators to conceive an exhibition and invite artists for residencies. It schedules three to four exhibitions per year, events, conferences, workshops and educational actions.

Since 1994, the Galerie Edouard Manet has been taking an active part in the setting up of the city of Genevilliers’ funds for contemporary art through the purchase of some artworks exhibited by the artists.
