The Malakoff Contemporary Art Center fulfills its mission across two distinct venues: “La maison des arts,” a space dedicated to art dissemination, and “La Supérette,” a hub for experimentation and residence for collective of authors. The art center serves as a dynamic laboratory, where innovative forms, ideas, and perspectives are nurtured. It fosters dialogue with the public and authors, delving into societal changes and issues.

Since 2015, the art center has undertaken two primary areas of research. The first revolves around the concept of collaborative work in the visual arts, while the second centers on an eco-conscious transformation, striving for thought-provoking and radical change. The outcomes of these research endeavors manifest in projects that span both of its locations.

Art mediation and education are central tenets of the art center’s mission. The team designs programs that cater to diverse audiences, with a specific focus on the local community, in close collaboration with local partners who are integral to city life and its citizens. The mediation and education team collaborates with artists to host various programs throughout the area, with a strong emphasis on engaging youth. Their activities include introducing contemporary art, working with educators, conducting educational workshops, evaluating their initiatives, engaging with visitors, and sharing knowledge. Through mediation, these projects extend beyond their initial timeframe, leaving a lasting impact in the narratives of those who visit. A localized educational approach brings individuals of all ages closer to the concepts presented by the featured authors.

The art center is a member of the DCA, TRAM, BLA! and Arts in Residence-réseau national. Under direct administration, it benefits from the support of the Ministry of Culture (DRAC Île-de-France), the Île-de-France Region, the General Council of Hauts-de-Seine, the Métropole du Grand Paris and Paris Habitat.
