Banyan - centre d’art contemporain de la Cité des Arts de La Réunion has been at the heart of a leading multidisciplinary cultural facility in La Réunion since it opened in 2016. It brings together spaces for research and experimentation for artists and curators, workshops for the production of works and exhibitions, territories for the dissemination of supported artistic projects and times for encounters with the public.
Banyan - centre d’art contemporain de la Cité des Arts de La Réunion operates as a multi-faceted tool for the development of the field of contemporary visual arts in La Réunion, and is part of a network of partnerships with local, regional, national and international players committed to the general interest. On a day-to-day basis, its team embraces the many challenges of the island context, working constantly and rigorously with local artists and audiences, and welcoming artistic projects from outside the island in a bid to open up the cultural landscape. With conviction and commitment, it embodies its missions of production, dissemination and mediation through support and artistic programming, with a focus on transmission, exchange and sharing, with fundamental respect for core values, creative freedom and the cultural rights of all.
Banyan - centre d’art contemporain de la Cité des Arts de La Réunion is also a member of the networks Rezom - Pôle des arts visuels de La Réunion and Arts en résidence - réseau national.
