A veritable laboratory for experimentation by young artists, Espace Croisé initiates contemporary reverie and reactivates the heritage of the former convent of the Poor Clares, listed in the Supplementary Inventory of Historic Monuments.
The centre for contemporary art adds dynamism to the artistic landscape through exhibitions, the production of works and research initiatives at the crossroads of the arts.
Its artistic and cultural programming reflects the societal changes in which artistic practices are rooted: the digital revolution, the profusion of images, democratic questioning, questions about identity, the reconfiguration of knowledge, etc.
These are all ways of renewing the public’s perceptions of their own history and territory, and of discussing other cultural and societal issues.
At the heart of the city of Roubaix, Espace Croisé defends new educational projects and is committed to access and rights to culture for all. As an essential part of the ecosystem of facilities for everyone, it contributes to artistic renewal and cultural democracy.
In June 2020, Espace Croisé, a contemporary art centre, became part of the Saisons Zéro project, in the former Clarisses convent in Roubaix, run by Zerm in collaboration with Yes We Camp, the ICAR company and historian Gilles Maury.
