The Centre d’art et de photographie de Lectoure, created in 1991, is the only contemporary art centre in the Gers. Focusing on photography but open to all contemporary art forms, it participates in raising awareness and educating the public in the region through the diversity of its activities. Throughout the year, it organises monographic and collective exhibitions, both inside and outside the art centre, as well as artists’ residencies and “L’été photographique de Lectoure”, a festival of photography and contemporary art since 1990, in the town’s heritage sites. It supports artistic creation by hosting artists in residence, producing and distributing new works and promotes access to culture in rural areas through mediation activities for a wide audience.
