Passages, a contemporary art center, is a space dedicated to the production, dissemination, and experimentation of national and international contemporary creation. Present in the Aubois territory for more than 40 years, its objective is to raise awareness of contemporary art and advocate for access to culture for everyone. The art center organizes 3 to 4 solo or group exhibitions per year, as well as research projects, including residencies and publications.

Passages welcomes audiences by offering mediations, various artistic activities tailored to each individual, and a significant cultural program. Various events accompany each exhibition, such as artist talks, workshops for children, evening openings, and friendly gatherings (Infra event). Furthermore, recognizing the importance of professional support for artists, the center organizes open dates for artists who wish to discuss their work with the team.

Founded in 1982 on the initiative of artists Roger Balboni, Françoise Balboni-Gibert, Dominique Lescher, Guy Mansuy and Martine Rog, the association first developed in Auxon, a small village in the south-east of the Aube region, before moving to Troyes. In 2000, Passages moved into its current premises: the former mansion of the Marot family, adjoining the storage areas of the hosiery factory of the same name, succeeding the École municipale des Beaux-Arts, which had occupied it since 1973. Situated in a green setting, at the foot of a ginkgo biloba tree over a hundred years old, the site is now occupied by the art center and its two artists’ residences, as well as by a dozen artists’ studios made available by the City of Troyes.
