An integral part of La Ferme du Buisson’s multidisciplinary project, the contemporary art center has been actively supporting creative work since 1991, through production, distribution and event programming. With an emphasis on young artists and international artists with little representation in France, the art center specializes in collaborative practices, autonomous mediation and performative forms. It also sees itself as a place to support artistic collectives and visual arts professions (criticism, management, creation and curation).
Its programming strives to bring contemporary art into dialogue with other artistic disciplines, such as theater, cinema and music. It encourages dialogue with contemporary theoretical bodies of knowledge and the sciences, and works alongside civic initiatives that develop at the intersection of artistic practices and the social field. Through monographic and group exhibitions, publications, encounters, screenings and festivals, the art center’s programming focuses on creative processes, experimentation and working together. Since 2020, the art center has held the “Centre d’art contemporain d’intérêt national” label. It is a member of the Relais network (art centers in Seine-et-Marne), Tram (contemporary art in Île-de-France), DCA - Association française de développement des centers d’art contemporain, BLA! (Association nationale des professionnel-les de la médiation en art contemporain) and the Société des Nouveaux commanditaires.
