40mcube, certified centre of national importance for contemporary art by the Ministry of Culture, centralizes an exhibition space, a workshop for the production of works of art, residencies for artists and curators, a continuing professional development organization, and the office of the Nouveaux Patrons program in Brittany.
40mcube is conceived as a living space for interaction, transmission, facilitation and education between artists, works of art and the public. The art centre develops a variety of activities: collaborating with artists for the production of their works and exhibitions; putting current art into perspective through group exhibitions; investing the public space; accompanying citizens through the New Patrons program; professional trainings for artists; artist residencies in different contexts and curatorial residencies in Brittany; the valorization and transmission of archives as a means for education.
40mcube offers a wide range of continuing professional development programs for artists, including GENERATOR, a long-term training program, short trainings, and the digital training platform artist for ever.
Through its projects,40mcube is connected to all aspects of society – solidarity, ecology, disabilities, professional training, health, education, higher education, research in the humanities and hard sciences, architecture, town planning, law, publishing, etc. The art centre is conceived of and acts according to a societal concept of a cultural institution which, in permanent contact with local authorities, companies, associations, networks, federations and trade unions at local, regional, national and European level, acts voluntarily and concretely on society.
